This year on 17 March, on Tuesday, the Bank of Lithuania to the circulation of coins to be issued by two of the 2009 European Capital of Culture in Warsaw. This is the 50 litas commemorative and 1 litas circulation commemorative coins.

Minted 10 000 units of 50 litas silver coin, and 1 million units of LTL 1 of copper and nickel alloy coins of the 2009 European Capital of Culture in Warsaw.
The new 50 litas silver coin will be sold by the Bank of Lithuania in Vilnius offices (Žirmūnų St 151), Kaunas (Elizabetes St 25) and Klaipėda (New Port St. 16). Representative price for the coin box - 150 lats, in addition to the box - 130 million (the purchase of a greater quantity discounts are applied).
