Baltic Triennial of International Art "City Stories" 2009

Vilnius - European Capital of Culture 2009 and the Contemporary Art Center invites you to the X Baltic Triennial of International Art "City Stories" (mentors Ann Demeester and Kestutis Kuizinas) opening this Friday, 25 September

The project "City Stories" involving 80 artists from the 20 countries. Riga, nominated to be ECoC for 2014

Beside the already nominated Umea, the Latvian city of Riga will held the title of European Capital of Culture of the year 2014.

On the 11.09.2009 Umea was designed by the Sweedish commision to represent the country as ECoC in 2014.
Umea has outbid the other three competitors, Gavle, Norrkoping and Lund in this competition.

Also Riga has ended the process of application, outbiding two other cities : Cesis and Liepaja.

Vilnius ECOC '09 launches a special stamp


Vilnius, the European Capital of Culture in 2009, with Linz (Austria) issued a special stamp on 11th of April, denominated with EUR 2,50.

European Capital of Culture for the commemorative coins will be held in Vilnius Town Hall

Vilnius 2009 will be managed by the Lithuanian Ministry of Culture




Founders of "Vilnius 09 -European Capital of Culture" Agency proposed to decide whether to follow-up institution, where the lack of funds to institutions of ongoing cultural, societal, and marketing and communication projects.

The dissolution of a body would be saved in bodies of the funds needed and could be allocated to the National Program included projects which are currently not enough funds for a Member of the budget discussion the city budget.

Over 2000 Ambassador of CultureLIVE


This week the national Programme Vilnius European Capital of Culture 2009 has registered over 2000 Ambassadors just in Lithuania.
Romania has also 5 Ambassadors, the first registered is Cosmin Dusleag (me :D)
What is Vilnius 2009 Ambassadors Programme?
In 2009, Lithuania will mark the millennium of its name, and Vilnius will become the European Capital of Culture. The anniversary and the status granted to Vilnius is significant recognition and unique opportunity to show the world what we are and what is special about us, present ourselves, our achievements, and attract attention.
In order to spread the word about our country and its capital, we have prepared the Ambassador Programme, which aims to market Vilnius and Lithuania around the globe.
